Back to around 2012, we were asked to send several shipments from Guangzhou (CAN) to Doha (DOH) via air freight. The shipment is a Telecom base station. Qatar Airways (QR) is the only carrier that has a direct flight between these two cities, it might be the best choice.
The whole shipment was quite big and heavy, which required more than one flight to send to the destination, we made a transportation plan for Huawei and arrange the shipment in a timely manner. We are not allowed to place any crates upside down and must move the crates gently. There were level and hit indicators, any violation to the handling procedure will cause the burst of the indicator. However, the indicator contains kerosene, which is considered dangerous goods. We have communicated with the warehouse and confirmed that a small quantity of kerosene for indication purposes is not treated as dangerous goods and thus, no need for extra examination.
Due to the shipment was not in regular size, the planning turned into a critical process of smooth handling. We dedicated to calculating the dimension of each piece and tried to maximize the utilization of each ULD, and finally planned the shipment on both freighter flight and passenger flight for a quicker and seamless connection.
After a dedicated planning, we managed to send the shipment within the time limit and meet the client’s request.
